My wife and I regularly include one of Pastor Greg Laurie’s devotional thoughts in our daily time together for Bible study and prayer. The central message of one of Pastor Laurie’s devotions (Under His Protection, May 5, 2018) continues to come to mind, especially in times like these where so much is uncertain because of the COVID-19 Pandemic. In this devotion Laurie wrote that “… until God is done with us, we are indestructible … nothing will stop us. We don’t have to live in constant fear for our lives, because until the day the Lord is done with us, we will be safe in His protective care.” What a powerful message of encouragement for all Christians, particularly those facing tough circumstances!
Romans 8:35-39 (NLT) – 35 Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? … 37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. 38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Reflection
The Apostle Paul had no fear for his life though he was in constant danger. Under tremendous pressure while in prison in Rome in AD 62 Paul shared these encouraging words to the Philippian church: “To live is Christ and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21 NKJV).
Christian, until God is done with you, nothing will stop you! Even in the darkest of times God is Our Protector!!
